More About Anterior Hip Replacement
The Anterior Total Hip Replacement is a minimally invasive technique that allows the surgeon to replace the damaged hip joint from the front of the joint rather than the back or side. Meant as an alternative approach to the standard hip replacement surgery, it consists of replacing the head of the thigh bone and the socket of the pelvis through a small, single anterior incision. This incision goes between muscle layers and minimizes muscle dysfunction. Dr Beicker and Dr Romanick have over 20 years of combined experience with anterior hip replacement in the Texas Hill Country.

Patients who undergo the Anterior Hip Replacement surgery have significant advantages such as:
-
Less pain – Procedure involves no cutting of important muscle tissue, resulting in less pain compared to the standard hip replacement surgery
-
Faster recovery – Rehabilitation is much quicker than traditional methods and patients experience significantly less weakness following surgery. This leads to less limping and a quicker return to normal activities.
-
Minimal use of ambulatory aids - This approach allows for improved mobility, which means less use of walkers, canes or crutches.
